Title: Tomato Soup with Onions

Slice two onions and fry them in butter until
brown; remove them and fry one dozen tomatoes just
sufficient to heat them through, then put them
into a stew pan with their gravy and the onions;
and a head of celery and a carrot sliced; stew
gently for an half an hour, add three pints of
gravy; stew and hour and a half; pulp the whole of
the vegetables through a sieve; season with white
pepper, salt and cayenne. Serve with snippets of
toasted bread cut in shapes.
